Chris was born and raised in North Carolina, where he received his undergraduate degree in Recreation Management at Appalachian State University.  His boating career started at age 10 in an inflatable kayak on the Nolichucky River.  He learned to roll at age 14 on the Nantahala River with the Nantahala Outdoor Center.  This is where he “drank the cool aid” and never looked back.  Before leaving the Tar Heel state, some of his favorite runs included: Watauga, Wilson’s Creek, and the Cheoah.  He now resides in Fort Collins, Colorado and works for Rocky Mountain Adventures and MAD Adventures as a kayak instructor and raft guide.  His newest project is teaching a kayak camp for teenagers that spends five days kayaking and camping along the Colorado River.  Besides boating, some of Chris’ favorite past times include thinking about boating, talking about boating, and watching videos about boating.  He is excited and honored to be part of this Grand Canyon expedition and looks forward to some extended river time.
